Calipari lands Knight and Lamb
With the core of the SEC champion Kentucky Wildcats declaring for the NBA Draft, it was imperative that head coach John Calipari reload with a strong recruiting class to avoid a massive drop-off in 2011.
Calipari locked up commitments from both Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb, two of the most explosive scoring guards in this year’s recruiting class. Knight announced his decision earlier in the week, while Lamb waited until Saturday at the Jordan Brand Classic.
Knight and Lamb should step in and replace John Wall and Eric Bledsoe in the starting lineup, two freshmen who carried the Wildcats to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and an Elite 8 appearance. The incoming players might not be as effective on the defensive end, but both possess the ability to score from anywhere on the floor and should make a seamless transition to college basketball.
