Wall eligible for 2009-2010 season
Kentucky basketball nation can exhale: John Wall will suit up for the Wildcats this season.
The highly-touted freshman point guard, whose eligibility was in question as recently as last week, was cleared to play by the NCAA. It did, however, order Wall to sit out the first two games of the season, and pay back nearly $800 in travel expenses dating back to his junior year of high school.
Kentucky fans will gladly take that sentence. Wall, the nation’s top recruit, is expected to lead the new-look Wildcats to a possible national championship before bolting for the NBA. His presence, in addition to new head coach John Calipari and returning big man Patrick Patterson, has Kentucky ranked in the preseason top five despite not finishing last season in the top 25.
Wall will miss two exhibition games, and be ready to suit up for the season opener against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 16.
